![]() ![]() I want to tell my parents, but I'm afraid to...
Regardless of age, this is always difficult unless your parents are pagan! My best advice would be to determine what your parents think about witchcraft before you decide to break the news to them. Here are a couple of scenarios and possible suggestions:
Your parents are open-minded, but they have negative views about witchcraft:
Surf the web with them and take them to some pagan/witch sites. See how they respond to the sites. If they are willing to accept witchcraft as a religion, then tell them that you would like to be a part of this religion. Assure them that you will be open and honest with them at all times and let them know that you are not "rebelling" against their beliefs or how they brought you up. If they are still suspicious about witchcraft, try explaining your beliefs and invite them to observe one of your rituals.
Your parents are against witchcraft and it seems unlikely that they would appreciate your interest in witchcraft:
This is by far the hardest scenario to deal with. Sometimes it is easier to hide your beliefs from your parents in this situation, especially if you are afraid your parents might become violent with you. Use your best judgement. I always recommend honesty and open-communication. If there is absolutely no way that you can tell your parents, then practice your beliefs in your room or in a nice, secure outdoor area. Above all, do not disrespect your parents, regardless of their beliefs!
